Rare vinyl 45 records featuring soul, classic rock, and modern rock 45s

Classic 45's is owned by Leland Scott, an avid 45 collector for over 30 years. He opened Classic 45's in 2001 as a model web-based record store geared to 45 collectors.

At Classic 45's, you can search or browse through our extensive collection of 45's from the 1950's to the 1990's. Look through our virtual "Mint Boxes" or the "Bargain Bin," or design your own virtual box using our advanced search form. We're based in the United States, but welcome customers from around the world. For many items in our inventory, we also include a scan of the record label. Finally, the detailed info page for each record contains release and chart data for each 45, as well as producer and songwriter credits. We try to give you as complete a picture as possible, since you can't actually pick the record up and look at it as you would in a physical--as opposed to a virtual--record store.

101ersKeys To Your Heart/ 5 Star Rock 'n' Roll Petrol
(condition: m) all good clash fans know that joe strummer (one of the clash`s lead singers and songwriters) started life as the lead singer for a london rnb/mod-style rock band called the 101ers. they put out only one single and, after the band was already kaput, one album of material. (only 2,000 copies of the lp makes it a very collectable item.) this rare 45 features a track that will blow away fans of strummer and the clash who`ve not heard it before, and will verify what a great sense for melody, rhythm, and lyrics strummer possessed way before he started demonstrating it with the clash`s music. this single was released in 1976, a year before the clash`s first album rocked the punk world. the flip side of the picture sleeve has some great photos of the band, both in and out of concert. from what i understand, the single was released earlier in 1976 on chiswick records, after which big beat licensed the track and put it out with a different picture sleeve. however, the big beat release seems to be the rarer of the two. (condition: m) all good clash fans know that joe strummer (one of the clash`s lead singers and songwriters) started life as the lead singer for a london rnb-style rock band called the 101ers. they put out only one single and, after the band was already kaput, one album of material. (only 2,000 copies of the lp makes it a very collectable item.) after numerous requests for a reissue of that lp, strummer`s widow (strummer died tragically of a heart attack in 2002) authorized a reissue, and in 2005 astralwerks released the album on cd and, in limited edition, on vinyl. they also released one single--this one, which likewise is no longer available. fans of joe strummer who`ve never heard this early material will be amazed at how great it is! both sides are terrific.. the a side is a neo-rockabilly track, while the flip is a great power pop number with top-notch guitar and, of course, vocals. both songs were written by strummer and the band. as an extra bit of icing on this cupcake, there`s a rare photo of strummer and the 101ers on the picture cover. note: this issue has a custom label and a small hole. Astralwerks 31047

69 EyesGothic Girl/ Branden Lee
(condition: m) this excellent single is a very limited edition pressing (300 copies) from a band that sounds a good deal like psychedelic furs on steroids. that`s not a bad thing at all, and both sides are quite engaging. personally, i prefer the flip, which is listed as a "radio mix" of the album cut. the single is pressed on clear red vinyl, with a small spindle hole. A. FriendWe're Gonna Miss You, Otis/ Macon
(condition: m) from a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. this rare soul tribute to otis redding clocks in at almost 4 minutes--an unheard of length for singles in 1968. (well, except for the odd bob dylan single..) fine bluesy instrumental on the flip. Hollywood 1123

AbbaI Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do/ Bang-a-boomerang
(condition: m) | factory sleeve included. it`s amazing to think that abba was overflowing with so many hummable tuney-tune-tunes in the mid-1970`s that they could afford to throw catchy nuggets like "bang-a-boomerang" away on their singles` b sides. if you`re an abba resister, this won`t matter a whit to you, but if you`ve already succumbed, you now have a reason to turn all your singles over and listen again to those b sides. :-) this, by the way, was the group`s fourth u.s. top-40 single. note: this copy comes in a vintage atlantic records factory sleeve. AbbaOn And On And On
(condition: ) stereo/mono promo copy. this single has the distinction of being abba`s poorest hit ever, except for one that didn`t even hit the hot 100 in 1983. it`s a much more dance-oriented tune with an almost-disco-style beat. this copy has some radio station writing on the red mono side. AbbaWhen All Is Said And Done/ Should I Laugh Or Cry
(condition: m-) this terrific track, sounding like the best of classic abba, was the group`s last top 40 u.s. hit. the excellent b side originally appeared only on this 45 rpm release, but was subsequently included in cd releases of their visitors album. lyrically, it also sounds like they`re bidding fans a fond farewell. note: the record itself is mint, but the sleeve has a sticker on the front side and has been taped on the bottom to shore up a split seam. Atlantic 3889 1982

AfiDecemberunderground - Limited Edition 7-inch Box Set
(condition: m) | factory sleeve included. in what i hope is a sign of a trend, here`s another gorgeous box set of 7-inch vinyl 45s by a currently popular rock group. it follows a similar one by the killers last year, which sold out before i could get more. this set, as the sticker on the outside reads, is a "limited edition 70inch box set featuring bonus track "fallen like the sky." it`s packed inside a clear plastic case etched with the december underground cover art. there are 6 crystal-clear vinyl singles (with small holes), each in its own glossy, heavy-paper picture sleeve featuring photos of the band. of course, as in the good old days, you also get a readable insert with all the lyrics and session details. on itunes, the top 3 songs by afi, a u.s. modern rock band that has been putting out records since the mid-1990`s, are from this set: love like wintermiss murderprelude 12/21 (this is the track that you hear in the mp3 snippet). this is a truly great box set. i`ve got just a few copies and may not be able to obtain more.
